The Isiolo School for the Deaf (ISD) is a public primary school (pre-kindergarten through eighth grade) serving children from Eastern and Northeastern Province in Kenya.
ISD is focused on improving the educational and vocational opportunities for its students and over the past five years the school has been vastly improved. However, continued infrastructural improvements must first be implemented (don’t water the ground until you’ve planted the seed) before the educational and vocational opportunities can be met.
On average, 60-70 students attend school, with average class sizes of under ten students. It is a boarding school, with separate dormitories for boys and girls, though a few students from Isiolo town attend as day scholars.
